But will they swim in the ocean?

Tigerdm2805_468x320_2 Not after seeing Jaws apparently. So in honor of the B-day girl and her affection for animals, I belatedly give her killer tiger swim champion. Or something like that. Odin is a white Bengal tiger that began swimming after chasing meat into a pool. (Click image to enlarge.) The photos are pretty amazing actually—and more than a little freaky. So basically, there’s nowhere safe if one of these is chasing me. Cool. Just what I needed to hear. Happy B-Day Jo.

Rehab is for quitters

Amy_winehoues_2 Amy Winehouse is a bad ass. Her new CD, Back to Black, clearly states she's made it through Step 1 of 12 and has no qualms about ignoring the last 11.

She's British, full of soul, honest and non-apologetic - picture Charles Bukowski crossed with Billie Holiday. Eww that made me shudder. But Amy pulls it off with her mature lyrics and jazzy melodies. This 23 year old white middle-class Jewish girl sounds like she's been singing in smoky jazz clubs for 35 years.

Yeah, so she looks like a malnourished crack head... some guys actually call that sexy. I'll try to stick to music judgement.

Clearly I'm more than satisfied with my latest download purchase.

Choosing words wisely

Taurus_2I have a birthday arriving in a few days - that makes me a Taurus. I've read a few astrological descriptions that claim we Tauri choose our words wisely, therefore often opting to say less as more.

I'll use that excuse to explain the lame 'ol statement every blogger makes at one point on their keyboard: "Gee it's been a while since I've posted."

But I have no real excuse. I make time to work a 12 hour day. I make time to watch the Sopranos once a week. I make time to go to the gym twice a week. I barely made time to make it to my grad class this semester. I make time to feed the pets, walk the dog and clean up the dead mice my cat leaves behind.

Things I don't seem to have time for - gardening, more walks with the dog, relaxing in my yard, soccer, filming-shooting-writing personal work. I actually enjoy writing - more than I'd expected. I write more in my head than on paper but I'm trying to flip that around. Maybe I'll make it some sort of birthday resolution to re-prioritize my time.

Of course I'll be sure to make time for my pedicure this weekend before heading out for a birthday celebration.
